This is Rock City

Growing as a multiethnic, multigenerational community of Christ-followers, demonstrating God’s love from Central Tacoma, throughout the city and beyond

Rock City exists to empower people to reach their full potential in Christ and become their best selves. Rock City cares for and cultivates the mind, body, soul and spirit of its members as a direct expression of Christ’s capacity to care for us, regardless of background or worldview. Two of nature’s longest standing and naturally occurring elements lie at the heart of Rock City’s mission: Water and Rocks

Water as a Driver of Spiritual Sustenance and Growth

Where God is, there is water. Water is a gift of life from God and the resting space of the Spirit. The use of water holds symbolic value in three ways: 1) it cleanses and washes away dirt; 2) it fills everything it enters as God fills those who are immersed in Him; and 3) we need water to survive physically as we need God to survive spiritually.

Rocks as a Basis and Imperative to Our Faith

Rocks are geologically classified according to characteristics such as mineral and chemical composition, permeability, the texture of the constituent particles, and particle size. These physical properties are the end result of the processes that formed the rocks. Over the course of time, rocks can transform from one type into another.

Monthly Worship

Join us for our next service — visit the Rock City Facebook Page for information on our next service. The music is going to be good, the service is going to be lively, we have a fairly good fantastic preacher, and you can sleep in on Sunday morning. We will continue to meet just once a month at Westminster Presbyterian Church for worship, while spending other evenings representing God's love in our community.

In the Community

What does it look like to be "the church" outside of our monthly worship gatherings? We believe this simply means being in the community regularly, just as Jesus was. Once a month we are going to talk over a Laundromat – pay for people's laundry – and just hang out and chat with people. Rock City wants to be a real and physical representation of who Jesus is to our community here in Tacoma, Washington.
